Kat Von D Biography

Katherine von Drachenberg was born on March 8, 1982 in Monterey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Though her father (Rene Von Drachenberg) is of German descent and her mother (Sylvia Galeano) has Spanish-Italian roots, both her parents are native Argentinians. Kat has two siblings, a sister named Karoline and a brother named Michael.

When Kat was four years old, her family relocated to the US and settled in Colton, CA. She was just 14 when she got her first tattoo, an old English "J" on her ankle. It wasn't long before Kat realized her natural artistic ability and picked up a tattoo machine herself. Her first effort was a Misfits skull.

Kat began working at Sin City Tattoo, her first professional shop, in 1998. Throughout the next few years she moved around to several other shops, gaining experience and perfecting her art, before finally settling at True Tattoo in Los Angeles. That is where Kat can be found today, working alongside her husband and fellow tattoo artist Oliver Peck.

In addition to her love for the art of tattooing, she is also a fan of Beethoven, and has several tattoos dedicated to or inspired by him.

Kat resides in Los Angeles and has opened up her own tattoo shop which is featured in the series, "LA Ink."

permanent makeup

permanent makeup is basically a tattoo. you can get eyeliner, eyebrows, and lip liner tatted.
is the same process as any other tattoo, the ink still goes in the dermis layer of the skin, but you may need to redo the makeup as it might fade overtime, specially on the eyebrows. This system is well for athletes or very bussy people that dont have time to do their makeup.

myths about tattoos

there are many myths about tattoos in general... people say they are easily to get infected, but the truth is that piercings are most likely to get infected. with the right handling of tools and sterilization there is nothing to worry about. also its very unlikely for a person to get HIV because a professional will sterilize the equipment and even tho, once the blood is dried the virus dies because it needs moister to survive. make sure you don't go to illicit tattoo places because that improves the chances of infection and also a bad job in the quality of the tattoo you decide too get.
infections do look like this tho...

surprisingly...

ok so i've been getting for prom latly rite?... well i sprayed tanned for da first time ever!!! i look orange ewwww!!! anyways so i found out something new, for the bed tanning thing, its kinda bad if you have a tattoo, and i see why, because the rays make the ink fade away. the same applies to the sun's lights, they make the ink kinda fade and make the ink all ugly, so if you got sum tats just noe stay away from alot of sun exposure... :]
